Shh! Some of us already have a mistress. Or two. Let's keep it quiet, okay?

Oh, my goodness! Pardon me while I wipe the tears from my eyes. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time!
Should married men be allowed a mistress like they do in Europe. What makes you think married me ARE allowed a mistress in Europe? And what makes you think it would discourage cheating. Do you honestly think that having a mistress means you aren't cheating? That is the ultimate in cheating!!!
A FEW married men in Europe have mistresses. And a few married men in North American have mistresses. But in neither case is it 'allowed'. It is grounds for divorce wherever it happens. And it IS cheating, wherever it happens.

I don't think it would discourage the man from finding more women to fool around with. The newness and variety are what's exciting about new relationships. After a while, two women would get old just as easily as one woman would. Even the guys who have harems just keep adding to them.
Plus, the two women would probably always be complaining to you and being jealous of eachother. Pretty soon you'd find somebody else just to get away from that stress.

Cheating is cheating! If that is your thing u do not need to be 'allowed". But if you are thinking a mistress will make it RIGHT, you are kidding yourself.

That IS cheating. Hey, if they want a little something on the side, that should apply to the wives also. If one person is not enough for someone, they shouldn't get married in the first place.

No way! And what do you mean 'discourage cheating'? A mistress IS cheating!

It isn't so much that they allow it in europe, it's more that it's been reluctantly accepted mostly because in the early years if the wife dared voice her opposition to the practice, she'd get whipped or facially disfigured, or an even worse fate by design of her husband

HE** NO!!!! Most men cheat anyway. They only think with their little heads. I never understood why they even bothered to get married in the first place. Oh, wait, now I know. They miss their mommies, and need a new one. Someone to wash their clothes, clean up after them, buy groceries, pay bills, and cook for them. In other words be responsible. That way they can still act foolish and do as they please.

Who says they aren't allowed? I mean, there are laws against polygamists (like in Utah), but there's no law against having an affair. It's not healthy to have an affair or to have a mistress if you're in a happy, loving, committed marriage; but if you're not, it's probably pretty commonplace.
