The movie is about a haunted house. The people are trying to find out the story about why the house is haunted. They find out that at the center of haunted house, there is a dead man sitting in a wheel chair surrounded by a room of lead. He is the one that s supposedly haunting the house. The movie is made in 1970's time frame.

rodney mcdowell was in it I think it was house on haunted hill.
good movie. I just checked smkwtrjck is right it is the legend of hell house 1973. If the evil spirt cut off his legs to make himself taller then it was hell house.

It could be "The House on Haunted Hill" originally done in 1959 starring vincente price or the one done in 1999
"The House of Usher" 1960 starring again, vincente price.
"The House of seven Gables" 1940 again vincente price.
"The Legend of Hell House" 1972
"The Haunting" 1963 Julie Harris

The Legend of Hell House. It was the first scary movie I ever watched. Scared me then. It doesn't now.
