My dealer wants to charge me $60 to find out why the light is on, when I know it's probably the Oxygen Sensor. This time I want to do it myself, than have the dealer do it. Should I buy the oxygen sensor at a retail store or go to a Nissan parts place? how much do they run. is it easy to install? i'm going to ask a friend to install it as he knows stuff about cars. THANKS! Denise

First if the light is on it does not mean what you think it is is wrong.
If you buy the new on and it dont work, you just spent the money for nothing
Go to Auto-Zone and thy will scan the car for free.
Then and only then and only if thy say it is the O2 sensor do you need to replace it.

(NOTE) dont forget when you do put in the new part that you get the computer reset, other-wise the light will not go off and reset the computer

Just cause your *check engine*light is on doesn't mean it's your O2 sensor. The computer has to be read and cleared with a scan tool.A number of sensors will set of the light, not just the o2 sensor.
Now ,you can install an o2 sensor and just cross your fingers and hope that fixes the problem,or you could be smart and find out what is really the cause.

Good luck
