your parents can drop the theft/fraud charges....the financial institution is only concerned on clearing their debt.....however the financial institution can pursue fraud charges.

It wasn't just the parents that were defraud...so where the merchants and the credit card companies. Furthermore, prosecutorial decisions are made by the prosecutor and not the victims. While the prosecutor may give deference to the wishes of the victims, it isn't the victims' call to make.

Furthermore, I believe the parents would be making a bad decision. The daughter needs to be held accountable for her actions and learn a lesson. Mom and dad shouldn't bail her our all the time. I suspect she has done stuff like this before and they have protected her in the past.

If there is a correction to a situation to have all the upset parties drop the charges. Remember Parties=Police/Credit Card/Parents/depending if Court was involved yet COURT. Your local police is your first stop because they charged her already. Good luck

no it is not the parents pressing the charges it is the state or the card companies . but the parents can feel free to pay for everything to keep the kids credit and there's from getting all jacked up

I don't see anything that would keep the parents from handling it that way. Im sure they would't be discouraged from paying the bill or dropping the charges. Im not sure what I would do though.

That would have to be something arranged with the CC company. They want thier money. Sending your daughter to jail wont get them anything.
But Id sure as all hell make my daughter pay me for it.

Maybe a wake up call now can prevent future problems.
