The death of a multiple before 16 weeks of pregnancy generally creates no increased risk for the remaining baby. A later death of a multiple with a separate placenta from the other(s) is also not too likely to cause any problems. When a deceased fetus's placenta is shared with a co-twin there is some risk of problems for the survivor, but most do well. With the death of a fetus when there is a survivor(s), the mother will be closely monitored until birth.

I went to school with a girl that was pregnant with twins and everything seemed great. But, about four or five months she went to the doctor and they could only hear one heart beat. They did an ultrasound and discovered that one of the twins had past away. They were the twins that are exactly the same twins, so she had to carry here deceased baby until the other baby was ready to deliver. She delivered both twins vaginally too. It was really hard on her but she didn't she her dead baby at all even after it was born because she couldn't bear to.

Good luck with your friend.

Really depends on how far along they are...A lot of times if the other twin dies then your body absorbs it and passes it during labor....sometimes in rare cases u can miscarry one twin with bleeding etc. but still carry term to the other..If the baby were bigger and something happened then they would prbably do an emergency c-section or other ways of handling it. If one is pregnant with twins The vast majority of people lose one of the twins...It is a very common occurence.

I actually knew a girl that was pregnant with twin girls and lost one of them , I know this sounds bad but she carried it about 3 months after it had died. The doctors done a c section to take the babies and hid her face so that she couldnt see the still born baby. The other baby is fine and healthy. But it can happen and I think it is a very sad situation. Sorry for your friend

I'm 12 weeks pregnant with my 3rd right now.At about 7 weeks I went to the Doctor because I had bleeding and cramping.I've also had two previous miscarriages. One at 16 weeks and another at 10 weeks. My Doctor did a ultrasound and what he found was another sac.I was pregnant with twins and miscarried one of them. This early in pregnancy the sac just absorbs.

unless the fetus that died is harming the other baby, then they will not do anything until it is time for the regular birth. This also depends on how far along the pregnancy is. If there is any other dangers in the pregnancy takes a toll also. doctors consider the safety of the mother and the living fetus first.

Depends how far along the pregnancy was when the baby stopped progressing. The baby will stay in until the actual birth of the surviving twin under most circumstances.

With my 2nd pregnancy I had vaginal bleeding. When I went to the ER I was told that I still had a high HCG, and that I might have been expecting twins, and that one passed. I spent 3 days in the hospital, and on and off bed rest for the rest of the pregnancy.

Well if they were identical twins I am not sure how they could do that since they both share the same amniotic sack. But if they were fraternal twins and one didn't make it, it is possible to abort. They do that know a days especially with couples that have taken fertility drugs and have gotten pregnant with more than expected.
