I own those Grado's. They're not the most comfortable heaphones out there, but their sound quality cannot be beat at the price. Their flat response yields an extremely natural, lifelike sound, with absolutely no muddiness or distortion at either end of the spectrum, and they can handle power well, too.

Koss's "The Plug" isn't as good as the Shure or Grado, but it's amazing for the price (about $15 or less). It might be all you need. I like them almost as much as some Sony headphones that were over $200.

If the "The Plug"'s foam plugs don't fit your ear, they don't seal and there's no bass. Either turn the plugs around (as suggested in the manual), or make or adapt some other plugs. I got a pair of stylish orange disposable earplugs, shortened them to about the length of the stock plugs, then punched holes through them with a leather punch.

The Shure is the best. But the iPod itself doesn't have a very good audio quality, so using it with the enpensive Shure is a waste....

i have a pair of koss headphones, but there the big kind that cover your ears. they have great sound but i dont think it would fit best with an mp3 player of anykind. because they use quiet a bit of power to get them going. but i have a pair of ear phones that came with my phillips mp3 player and i use them on my zen vision m 30 gig and they sound great with it. but i guess you can start at a price range of 20 dollars at any electronics store such as circuit city or best buy. good luck!

the SHURE E-2c is the best high end headphone for the regular ipod or the nano.

you can get it at the apple store for close to $100 and its worth it because of there features like noise cancellation, which cancels background noise but i recommend buying it on ebay its cheaper and its pretty much the same thing.
