If you read the back of the formula can, you will notice that the amounts of nutrients are almost identical, as they are in most infant formulas. Nestle Good Start is a wonderful formula and is practically interchangable with Enfamil. The textures of the powders are slightly different, but when mixed with water there is no difference.
Formula changes are not as disruptive as people make them sound, and other than a slight difference in taste, your baby probably won't even notice. If he does turn up his nose at the new formula, try changing it slowly, mixing the two brands half and half, and then adding more of the new formula day by day.
Also, to dispell a myth posted by another user here....WIC will NOT change the formula brand for your child just because you ask. They provide the things they provide, and rarely any substitutions. They will only change the brand for your baby if you obtain a prescription from your pediatrician, but they won't just give you whatever brand you want. There must be a medical reason for the change, and your baby must need a different type of formula, not just a different brand. WIC will pay for Nestle Good Start, and Nestle Good Start Soy, for lactose intolerant babies. The only exceptions to this are for immunosuppressed children and preemies.

My son is also on WIC and is on Emfimal also. In my opinion, I think that the Nestle Good Start is better then Enfimal. One other plus with the Nestle Good Start is if you sign up with there website(www.verybestbaby.com) they might give you 3 or 4 coupons for $11.00 off. I think that your five month old should have an easier time of switching formulas. Make sure that your baby's doctor knows what is going on, but I'm sure it will be ok.

Yes you can cahnge your baby's formula. Just check whith the pediatrician first so that you would feel more comfortable. I change my baby's formula like 4 times and she was really good with that. I was also expecting to have some kind of rection , but no she was really good. But as always, do it slowly if you see that she/he takes it really good then continue. I also am getting WIC Similac Advance and just took it from there. Trust me if the baby reacts from the new formula call WIC right away and they should change it, after taking your baby to the pediatrician and get a note from him/her stating baby's reaction. Hope this helps. Good Luck :)

It would depend whether or not your child has any allergies to certain kinds of formula. I changed my daughters and it didn't bother her one bit! I think you should call the WIC office and talk to the Nutritionist. She would be able to tell you, maybe they accidentally switched them on your checks and could put your baby back on the Enfamil. If they have totally switched over you could also talk to the baby's Dr. and make sure they think it's o.k. My children were on WIC as infants and received Enfamil, this has to be a recent change! Good Luck!

The WIC is changing everywhere. I myself would not use the Nestle Good Start. Its clumpy and doesn't mix well. With that I do not believe it is as healthy. If you can sway your doctor into writing a prescription for the Enfamil, WIC will change it back. There is no harm in changing brands... just baby may not like it.

I have the same thing. My daughter is 4 months old and she adapted to it quickly. Actually, she had no problems at all. They do give a paper out telling you how to do it incase she don't want it. You have to like mix half enfamil and half nestle... and keep doing that for like a week or so and then just start giving the nestle the regular way or something like that. If they didn't give you the paper - then just call the office and talk to the nutritionist. I just gave my daughter the new one straight and like I said .. I had no probs. So you can try by just giving the baby the new one and if you notice that he/she don't want it then give them half and half. Good Luck!

When my son was a couple weeks, he had started off with Similac b/c I was given samples in the mail and that is what I had at home b/c breastfeeding didn't work out. Then we realized how expensive it was and wanted to try to switch to a different brand that was cheaper and we tried Good Start with him. It gave him really bad gas for a whole week and he would just scream b/c it hurt him so bad and it was b/c we had switched it on him. It took us a week to figure it out and then switch him back to Similac. Maybe ask your Dr. and maybe he can recommend how to switch a baby to another formula. Good Luck
