There are many types of bacteria, including cocci, staphylococci, streptococci, diplococci, bacilli and spirilla. Staphylococci are found in pustules and boils. Streptococci can cause septisemia (blood poisoning), strep throat and rheumatic fever. Diplococci are bacterial cells found in people with pneumonia. Bacilli, the most common form of bacterial cells, causes tetanus, influenza, typhoid fever, tuberculosis and diphtheria. Spirilla causes highly contagious diseases such as syphilis, cholera and lyme disease.

Some diseases caused by viruses include:
respiratory and gastrointestinal infections
chicken pox
mumps
measles
small pox

First of all, bubonic plague is NOT caused by a virus...it's caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis. Second, yellow fever is not caused by a bacterium, it's a viral infection.

4 diseases caused by bacteria:
anthrax (Bacillus anthracis)
whooping cough (Bordetella pertussis)
tetanus (Clostridium tetani)
tuberculosis (Mycobacterium tuberculosis)
and of course, bubonic plague! :)

4 diseases caused by viruses:
AIDS (HIV)
smallpox (variola virus)
measles (Morbillivirus)
rabies (rhabdovirus/rabies virus)

Then there's alot of diseases that can be caused by either viruses or bacteria, like pneumonia and meningitis.
