Hi

First.. remove your dog so he cant get at the bird.
He may be only stunned and will recover.. but
Since they are protected birds you should call somebody.

If you have a wildlife Rescue center or ASPCA in your area call them.. if not call the police and ask them to call a local Wildlife rehabilitator.. they will know of one.. The have to have some body who handles wildlife calls.

Dont try to pick it up yourself.. He will be afraid and it will only strress him more...
The best thing you can do is call for help and keep your dog away from him. If your yard is not fenced then keep an eye out for other things like cats that could nab him as well til help comes.

It is VERY odd for a hawk to get zapped... and it would make me wonder if it was ok to begin with or already injured... so calling somebody would be really good.

Wildlife rescuers can asses the bird and treat it and later release it in a safe place.
THank you for caring!!

Try and find an experienced falconer of falconry center and take it there. put it in a cardboard box, but not too big so it can flap and jump around too much, when you pick it up try grabbing it around the shoulders and across the back with a towel and keep it's feet away from you, feet hurt if they grab you.
Many animal shelters don't know how to deal with raptors unless the have a falconry experienced worker or know a falconer to help them. It's best just to take it straight to the falconer it saves hassle and the hawk is less stressed.

I would expect it was injured before trying to land on the wires, it couldn't land because of an injured foot. I don't see how it would get a shock when it was not grounded. You could take a blanket or a sack and throw over it and contact the SPCA.

You shouldn't try to pick it up yourself, as you are likely to get bitten or clawed, and a hawk has a very strong bite, and very sharp claws! Keep phoning until you reach someone.

Do you have a large cardboard box that you could put over it to help contain it?

Actually birds DON'T get electrocuted by sitting on wires.

There might be something else causing it's distress. I would call animal control. I am sure they have a contact for wildlife issues. A wildlife department would DEFINITELY want to save a bird such as a hawk.

BRING YOUR DOG INSIDE!!! OR TIE IT UP!!!

Take it inside and call your local Animal people, in Australia they're the RSPCA. They'll come over and collect it and look after it.
While you wait keep it in your laundry sink (with no water of course) but on a towel so that they aren't too cold.

put blanket over him and place in bag..he will get quiet in darkness with cover..take to the aviary section at local zoo and they will fix him up...be careful with wings..use large blanket and cover him after cornering him in the yard..keep dog away as he may get eyes poked out by hawk too.
