your family maybe the only ones being harshly truthful to you.....then again they maybe just mean spirited....
If you think you can sing do two things:
1.plug your ears and sing....to get a better understanding of what is coming from your mouth record just your voice...and listen to the recording. See what others hear
2. Audition for a singing group. Strangers will always tell the truth if they know they will never see you again!

Is there anyway I can hear you sing? Do you have myspace or a youtube vid of you singing. Get a recorder and listen to yourself. May not be a great singer. But you might have lots of potential. In that case get some lesson or some coaching.

Join the Chorus at your school. Go for your dream. Your family will probably become supportive when you become a famous singer.
