Use a lighter shade like a light gold or shimmery white to highlight your brown bone. Also use the same color in the inner corners of your eyes, to make them look brighter. Next, use the medium shade on your eye crease. Using your brush or applicator, go back and forth on the crease. Next use the darkest shade right near your eyelid and lashes. Use mascara depending on your eyecolor. Brown is less harsh then black, unless you have black hair and tan skin. Eyeliner can be used in a lot of ways. Either on the top of your lid near your lashes in a line. This opens them up more and makes them look a little bigger. Using them on the lower lid makes it more smaller. You can use eyeliner in both places, but it is a little too much. Use white eyeliner on the bottom lid to makes your eye brighter and bigger, especially when your tired.
As for your eyeshadows, the best colors to use are ones that complement your skin tone and not the color of your outfit. Browns, taupes and coppers look good on most skin tones.
I also recommend using eyeshadow brushes rather than the applicators that comes with the eyshadow. Gives you more control on the application.
Remember that the key is to look as natural as possible, so stay away from blues and high pigment colors for daytime.
Good luck!

Do not do bright rainbow colors ever. that is a mistake. its like a little kid that just learned what make up is. Use a natural tone brown but because you have brown eyes, mix it up with a little gold. Ulta makes a really good gold eyeshadow. If you do gold, put it only on the eyelid, not all the way up to the brow. Apply a vibrant but small line of it under the eye to, right below the roots your eyelashes If you don't like the idea of gold... These days its better to wear a natural tone of eyeshadow then bright colors. stick with brownish tones. Select a light shadow and apply onto entire eye area from lash line to brow bone. Then, apply a medium tone ont eh eyelid up into the crease. Next, apply the deeper shade into the crease and a tad bit up above the brow line. By the way, the crease is the part of your eyelid where it bends when you open your eye. other part of the eye... If you want a bold look on your eyes use a blck eye pencil to the rim of the entire eye. Use a dark brown eye pencil to draw along the upper adn lower lash line blening thicker at the out corners. So basically there is a super thin, almost no brown on the inner part of the eye and a thicker line toward the outer part. Finish with two coats of black mascara on upper and lower lashes. If you want a more suddle look, just apply a brown eyeliner to the entire rim of the eye. Either way you want, finish with two coats of black mascara on upper and lower lashes.

1. Hold up your top eyelashes and line INSIDE the lashline. You can do this on the bottom lid too, if you like.
2. Buy one of those eyeshadow sets of 3 different shades. Use a big, fluffy eyeshadow brush to dust the lightest shade right under your eyebrow toward the outside of your browline.
3. Brush the medium shade around the hollow above your eyelid, as well as on the sides of the eyelid.
4. If you want, use a much smaller brush to line above your lashline in the darkest shade.
I hope this wasn't too confusing!

Even the "experts" disagree. I am no expert but I shade my entire eyelid from lashes to eyebrows lightly with a color then apply another color or the same color heavier from the lashes to the crease. Next, I finely line my upper lash line completely and my lower lash line from the outer corners to the middle of my lower lid. Finally, I apply mascara to my upper lashes. (I have long eyelashes and it doesn't look good if I put mascara on my lower lashes.) Good luck and happy makeuping.

i like to use an eyeshadow brush (don't use the applicators that come w/ the eyeshadow!)
swipe on a light color from inside corner of the eye to the edge of outer eye
if u want, use a darker color to emphasis the crease
for eyeliner, i usually tilt my head back, and look Down into the mirror...then i start from inside corner, as Close to the lash line as possible! when u get to 3/4 of the end of the eye, instead of following the eye downwards, swoop Out and Upwards a little!! when u look at ur eye normally, u will see that it makes ur eye look Bigger, and kinda looks like ur eyelashes are longer. then get mascara on upper lids!!!!
use highlighter (white or gold shadow/pencil) on lower lash line, and then some mascara on lower lashes
:)
