I would like to advertise the website that i am building. I would like to do it for free because i am just starting out.

Looks like you are doing the right thing. Go on the boards and ask this same question. People will see it and quite possibly go. Not me, but some people.
The other thing to do and probably the most important is to create a press release that you can distribute freely via PRWeb. The release could get picked up by many other websites.
