... like The X Factor in the UK and American Idol in the States ? To find talent ? I doubt it very much !! Don't you agree that is not true ? I think the REAL reason is to make money out of the phone calls peole make when they "vote", ie., the TV companies make MILLIONS out of the MILLIONS of phone calls made by the MILLIONS of people when "voting". What do you think ? I mean... how many Beatles, or Frank Sinatras or Elvises have come out of all the X actors and Am Idols to date ? NONE !!! Comments please. Thanx in advance.

I have never EVER watched any of those two shows but I admit I have been guilt of (this is a joke) child abuse... I let my two young children watch the program... and I know it is making them stupid... and yet I let them watch it... that has got to be abusing my kids.

Yes, they make loads of money and let people choose the next idol, even if they are not the best. With so many talentless singers being told that they could be the next sensation, no wonder youngsters today dont want to work hard and get a career.

Yes. I agree, the shows are lame. And I hate their life. But it's no surprise it's about making money one way or another... Everything in the entertainment industry is about making money, and showing people what they want. Most artists aren't artists; they're puppets. They only make music that the masses love, not what they love. Even my freind in the DJing business, loves house music, and is leaning towards liking underground hip hop music, but is playing mainstream rap music, because that is where the money is.

Different strokes for different folks. There must be a huge audience out there for these programs or they wouldn't still be on the air.
P.S. I wouldn't worry that you are abusing your children....if this is the worst thing you ever do to them...they will grow up happy and healthy.

I agree with you. Those shows are lame. It's the same with LOST. People become totally manipulated by the producers of the show but are too dense to see it.

i hate shows like that. they are just trying to make money. people become like hypmotized by them. the only American Idols to even get famous and make more than one hit song are carrie underwood and kelly clarkson. (they have two hit songs) hahahahaha

Did you really need to ask that question - surely Simon Cowell grinning cos his wallet is weighing him down would give it away
