The Shettles Method is based on the fact that the Y chromosome bearing sperm ( boy sperm ) are smaller and less robust but move faster than the larger X chromosome bearing sperm ( girl sperm ).

So based on this fact, the Shettle Method recommends the following to help you conceive a boy.

Determining when you ovulate is vital when you are learning how to conceive a boy. Shettles recommends that you have sex as early as 24 hours before ovulation to no more than 12 hours past ovulation in order to increase your chances of conceiving a boy. Having sex to far in advance to ovulation will dramatically decrease your chances of conceiving a boy. The timing of intercourse in relation to ovulation is a vital factor in increasing your chances of having a boy.

Shettles recommends that you have sex 2 1/2 to 3 days BEFORE ovulation in order to increase your chances of conceiving a girl.

It worked the opposite way round for me. We had early sex and had a boy. And then Hubby was away on business while ovulated. He got back from the US early on the morning 2 days after I had ovulated, and we had a go anyway, and we had a girl.

I'm not sure if you can make yourself have a certain gender. It's up to the guy to determine the sex of the baby. I am pregnant again and the doc said I'm having another girl believe me if there was a way to make yourself have a boy we would have done it already. Remember that if youhave girls thats what you were intended to have I know how it feels to want a boy badly but theres not really anything you can do.

My friend once told me that girls stay longer and boys want to rush to the finishing line. Which meant that if you wanted a girl you should have more sex during the time of ovulation as the sperm would stay in there longer and if you wanted a boy you would have sex once or twice during ovulation which would make the sperm race to the egg before it was too late. Not sure how accurate this is as I haven't tried it myself, but I do think it is just a luck of the draw.

I have 3 boys and am pregnant again. I have always wanted a girl. Its just a 50/50 chance. Their is nothing you can do unless you go to a facility to get it done which is really expensive Im sure. So good luck to you.

My brother and his wife are vegetarians and he read that veggies are more likely to have girls because of a lack of protein. So my brother made sure he got loads of protein at the correct time of month (i think he ate loads of beans) and hey presto - he got the mose beautiful baby boy in the whole world. Didn't bother about the protein for the next one and he had a girl!!!!!
My other bother and wife are also vegetarians and as far as I am aware they didn't load up on the protein and they have 3 girls!!!!

Completely out of your control. Nothing you can do will influence the gender of your baby. Do you think there is some magical potion you can drink and you will automatically have a boy?

people really dont believe me when i tell them this,if you want a boy, have sex as much as you can before your wifes 10th day(10 days after the day her period started),but dont do it after, not even on the 11th day, dont have sex then, until her next period, this method has worked for myself my mum and 3 of my aunties,i planned my children everytime, 1st born a girl, now 11yrs old,2nd born, a boy,7 yrs old,3rd born,a girl,5yrs old,4th born,a boy now 8mths old.if it doesnt work for you,i'll be gobsmacked.i now have 2 boys and 2 girls using this method.and if people say it doesnt work, then my family are really lucky.good luck, and hopefully, next time i see a question from you on here, will be about a newborn baby boy. :-)

Hi,

I know this response is late but it might help other people in your situation. It is possible to determine the gender of the baby through a procedure called PGD (pre-implantation genetic diagnosis), which involves screening the embryo in order to determine the gender before it is implanted.

If you want more info please get in touch as our clinic offers this service and we would be more than happy to help: pav@gender-selection.co.uk

All the best!
