Most definitely. It should be part of becoming a citizen to learn the language of the country you are entering. The problem started with all the illegal aliens from Mexico wanting all the free goods and services without paying taxes here and waving their flags and demanding rights.

Sure english should be the official language. But instead of singling out hispanics for not knowing english, single out everybody. Ever call tech support and have someone in India answer the phone? Or and asian at a fast food take your order? herro may i take ur orrerr?
Sucka.

The official language of what?
If you mean the US, you do not speak English. You speak American/English.
For example. There is no such thing as a sidewalk,it's a pavement.
The "hood" and the "trunk" on a car ar actually the "bonnet" and the "boot"

American English should be the official language of America, I will not be forced to learn another one, like Spanish. But if I want to learn those other languages it will be on my own time, Mexicans want us to learn theirs and I say no, they come here they will learn our ways, other wise they know where they can go.
That also goes for any other language, they learn ours or they leave. The French to hell with them, they hate us but they love our tourists because they spend lots of money, we help them in WWII and that is what we get.

Definately!!

If not, this country will turn into something like Canada, where the french took over a large area. Now they are very discriminative in jobs, healthcare, everything--to the english. The english are treated like crap. This is how it will be here, only the spanish will be treating us like crap and nothing will be in english anymore. They should have to learn ENGLISH-not the other way around. I am not moving to mexico, (or another hispanic country) I should not have to learn spanish because they are coming here.

English IS the official language.

But, our government is too pansy to enforce the fact that English is the officially documented national language.

I agree with you 100%.

Shoot, look at Canada...you must learn both English and French to obtain citizenship status....and we can't even enforce English by itself.

It's pathetic.

I do not frequent the McDonalds establishment. I find other places to get a bite. I don't want anything to do with it and it's not the food.
And English is the official language.

Yes, I think it should be, but I think you guys in America should call your version of English, American. American should be your official language.
