any one good at burnin cds?

ok well i have an older computer so i dont it has a burner my boyfriend said that you dont need a burner all you need is to rip the cd and thats it is that right??

If you wanna take the songs from the CD and put them on the computer, that is ripping and you don't need a burner. But if you then want to put them onto a new CD, that is burning and you do need a burner.
