The U.S. economy looks good right now with the DOW over 12000 but it could very well be headed for a recession. Why? The Bush administration's policies continue to prolong unacceptable levels in the trade deficit and federal budget deficit. Also, what is more worrisome is that the housing market is in a significant decline right now. This will certainly reduce consumer demand. And if inflation rises then the Federal Reserve will be forced to raise short term interest rates. That spells trouble. I wouldn't feel exactly comfortable owning stocks at the high numbers right now.

It's good or those that own stock. Remember that it can fall too. Have you checked out the prices for groceries, medicine, good, and services? If you do not have a lot of money the economy isn't that great. I am disabled and unable to work, I have a VERY limited income and the economy is not too great for me. The Stock market is only one indicator of the strength of the economy.

Stock Market and ecomony are not controlled by poltical parties thank god Benrake running the ship. Ecomony keep growing since population in general knows how to meet supply and demand. Stock Markets in generals rise slowly higher over time. The left wing populists think captial accumilation is bad, but im sure they own stock. Hyprocrisy reek by Democrats at times??? Althought I dont like Neocons in General than have that Iraq money in wall street than Hablutrion.

Maybe it would be best if we all quit trying to prove the other side wrong. Both Republicans and Democrats have some good ideas and maybe if we tried working together to do what is best for the country instead of trying to show how bad the other person is everything might get better. It should not be an us against them mentality. As long as it is then we will not move forward.

Who cares what the stock market is doing? That's only for rich people! The rest of us are getting screwed, because the only jobs are the type you get from McDonald's. All the others have been shipped to China. If you are rich, the economy's great. If you are not, it's awful.

hmmm...the economy has more than two dimensions.

Just read your profile. I think I am the exact opposite of you guys.

I am white, she is from China.

I am liberal on political issues, yet conservative on social issues.

I'm sure though, that over a few beers, we could work out some of that! lol

Won't happen. If it isn't one thing, it's another.
Of course, I don't think the other side is much better (note, I did say MUCH, lol), but still.

They will admit that it is good but not that Bush is responsible.
