It could be an allergic reaction to something or stress. I would see a doctor if it keeps happening.

Well, first, you need to wear sunscreen. Get yourself some of that "man formula" stuff if you want, but you have to protect your skin because wind and sun and temperature changes can really redden up your cheeks. I get terribly red cheeks in the winter when it's cold outside and hot inside--the change just makes my cheeks stay hot and red. I hate it--I think it's just because I have naturally pink cheeks and the temps just bother me. You might also have rosacea or some kind of skin condition, so get it checked out if it gets worse or you get bumps or swelling, stuff like that. It's not very likely, but if it hurts or doesn't get better, off to the doctor!

As far as nervous blushing--if it's really bad, especially if you feel like everybody's looking at you, or you have other symptoms, like sweating, trembling, racing heart, nausea, stuff like that--you might have some issues with anxiety. Studies have found that people who have physical anxiety symptoms like the ones listed above are much more likely to develop social phobia. It's something about feeling like people KNOW they're anxious, they can SEE it. I guess to some extent they can, but it doesn't mean you should feel bad about having physical symptoms. Some medications can help with the anxiety symptoms, but I highly recommend some "exposure therapy" (with sunscreen, of course! Ha!)

No, seriously--get Dying of Embarrassment and try the therapy in there. I had horrible social phobia when I was in college--I got to where I couldn't speak in class and had to take a couple of incompletes in discussion classes. I could barely go through a checkout line at a grocery store. So I tried things that freaked me out a little bit, like making eye contact with strangers. I did that until I felt OK with it, then I moved on to progressively scarier things. I got to where I was fine with public speaking--I even gave a eulogy at a funeral once. I don't feel nearly as bad about social stuff anymore, like dancing or performing in public, or meeting new people. So if it's a real problem, try the therapy in there just to calm your fears and make you more comfortable in social situations.

I hate how I blush so much--it hurts and I feel like EVERYBODY'S looking at me. I just do what I can to protect my skin and not be too anxious. It sucks, but it's better than being ghost-pale, right?

It's nerves. It just flares up for no reason all the time. my sister's whole face gets like that. My ears burn like crazy and turn beat red. It just happens, just try to be calm and drink lots of cold water.
