Quad-Band

Designates a GSM phone that supports all four major GSM frequency bands, making it compatible with all major GSM networks worldwide.

The four bands include the 850 and 1900 MHz bands - used in the Americas - and 900 / 1800, used in most other parts of the world.

Compared to a tri-band phone supporting the 900 / 1800 / 1900 bands, a quad-band phone adds support for GSM 850 for full coverage in the Americas.

Compared to a tri-band phone supporting the 850 / 1800 / 1900 bands, a quad-band phone adds support for GSM 900 for full coverage in Europe and Asia.

quad band is a phone that can use the 4 GSM cell phone mobile frequencies. the 4 frequencies are * 850 MHz * 900 MHz * 1800 MHz * 1900 MHz. the motorola RAZR is a quadband phone. not the verizon version though because that doesnt use GSM. a quadband is also known as a "world phone" beause most of the world uses the GSM network, which uses sim cards, if it doest use sim cards its not GSM.

an unlocked phone is a phone which can go on any cell phone carrier aslong as that phone supports the gsm frequency in that country. all quadband gsm phones can be used in any country that the cell phones use a sim card.
