What you need to do is get some of your friends you can do makeup on. Take pictures of them and then start advertising. You may want to go into bridal shops with your portfolio of your technique and sell yourself there. You can also set up flyers at any local place that alot of people will see(supermarkets, malls, etc.) Make sure when you go to places, you look professional and neat. People's first impression of you is very important. By starting small and keeping your overhead at a financial minimum, this will be a good way to see if you like doing this without sinking alot of money into it. Good luck. :)

First of all, if you want to not look like everybody else, get your own style. Wearing skinny jeans, buying shirts from Hollister, and having the scene haircut is a style used by millions of girls all over the world. It all depends on how you want to look, it seems to me like you're sorta into the preppy with a little punk flair thrown in. Try going to little thrift stores or boutiques that nobody has ever really heard of. You can get cute clothes, that are totally unique, and pretty cheap too. Also, try going to little "hippy" stores, because you can get really cute accessories to go with your outfits. Be different, and you'll be good. Remember to have fun with it, because it will show. As for the makeup- This all sounds fine, just be sure that it's not an obnoxious color of eyeshadow and it goes with your skin tone as well. Oh, and be sure only to put a thin line of eyeliner. When it comes to eyeliner, less is more. Good luck(:

You should really look into Arbonne. It's $29 to start and you don't have to buy a bunch of product up front like Mary Kay or Avon. You just get people to buy their stuff wholesale from their own computer! You can purchase demo product to let people try out first if you want, but it's really the perfect business for a college student because there's so little start up cost!
I'd love to tell you more!

Congratulations on wanting to start your own business!
First of all, I'm not sure if you want to sell existing makeup, such as MaryKay or Avon products, or if you'd like to make your own makeup.
If you want to sell MaryKay/Avon products, simply go to their website (MaryKay.com or Avon.com) and request that a sales rep contact you to get you started on the things you'll need to do to start making money. I used to sell there products. It's a small start-up fee, but I hate to give details because it was so long ago and I'm not sure if things have changed, so I don't want to give you the wrong information.
If you want to MAKE (and sell) your own LINE of products, go to the library and look in the beauty section. There are books that teach you how to make your own perfumes/lip gloss/makeup remover, etc. This will get you started on deciding what you want to focus on. I suggesting making a few items and seeing what sells FIRST before you make a huge supply, only to find it's not in demand.
Be HONEST with your clients, and most of them will be helpful. Let them know you're starting a new business and have them give you their honest opinion about what they like and dislike, so that way you'll create a huge supply of what people will like and stop making what people don't like.
When you are confident enough to start making products in bulk amounts, go to a warehouse online to purchase containers for your products, and you can make the labels yourself on a computer.
Good luck. Maybe I'm talking to the next MaryKay?! =)

Go through a company, like mary Kay or Avon is a good start. I sell Mary Kay- And it's really easy to get new customers, You just have to be outgoing and nice and confident in what you sell...
Hit up your friends, their friends, talk to the lady at the checkout when you go shopping, someone looking at make up in the store and ect...

first, you need to make a business plan and then you need to have money to buy the things you are going to sell. That's a good idea. Good luck!
