I would start now. Check the lease that you have currently and see what kind of clauses you have for renewal or breaking early. A lot of land lords/rental agencies have rent specials for January. Good luck!

It's best to start looking now so you can Have time to find something you really like and some landlords may hold the apartment for you for maybe a month or 2 esp. and even work with you on the security deposit.

Most landlords won't hold an apt for more than a month and that's with a deposit. You could start looking to see what area you want to live in (is it safe, centrally located, etc) and to get an idea of prices. But I wouldn't start calling people until Dec.

You should start looking now. You need to get a feel of what is out there. During the month of November, you should start going and finding a place.
