Add Diana's 12%

Dianas price = 112% of $126026

Now add agent's 5.9%

Sale price = 105.9% of Diana's price
=105.9% of 112% of $126026
= 1.059 x 1.12 x $126026
= $149477 (nearest dollar, by calculator)

The best way to deal with story problems is with a three step process.

First, identify what you're looking for and assign a variable to it. In this case, we can let s stand for the sales price of the house.

Second, set up an equation using the given information. Here, s = 126026 x 1.12 x 1.059. The 1.12 gives her a 12% profit while the 1.059 gives the agent a 5.9% commission on the price plus the owner's profit.

Next, solve for your answer. Here,
s = 126026 x 1.12 x 1.059 = 149477.

126026 + 12% for Diana + 5.9% for realtor is 126026 +17.9%
So, 126026X.179 = 17.9% of the value, which is 22558.654 which rounds up to 22559
126026 + 22559 = 148585
Good luck, hope this helps
