I work for Head Start and I receive an extremely low salary- basically not a livable wage. It's now my second year working there and I want to ask for a raise. How can I ask in a way that will get me one?

Simply ask. Approach your boss and ask to talk with him/her. Make a list before you go in to the meeting documenting all that you do in your position, and how valuable of an employee that you are. Mention specific accomplishments also. Tell them that you've been there for two years, and when you recieved your last raise. Some companies only give raises if the employee asks for them.

Never be afraid to ask for what you want, if you are in a postion that will not allow you to grow - Change Jobs.

You want to explain to the employer that you are worth the increase and that you contribute enough to earn that much more. then explain how excited you are to take on more responsibility and grow within the company.

3 things to always keep in mind

1) never be afraid to ask for what you deserve
2) be certain you can convey your value to the company
3) be ready to EARN what you ask for!

Try to be reasonable and talk to your boss about how technically, you're work hard, you're good enough for the raise, now that you've been there for so long.
