I got it yesterday afternoon and put it on the charger @ 9 pm. I have it on the charger now and it still wont come on. is something wrong with it?

Yes i tried the power button and i ordered it from dell. So should I mail it back

A couple of suggestions:

When the computer was plugged in the power outlet to charge the battery, did any kind of light light up on the laptop? Specially the one that shows battery like symbol.

If yes then the battery is plugged in right! Also, you should be able to run your laptop without the battery when you have it plugged in.

Now, if you look at the battery itsel. There will be a button on the battery that will show you the charge on the battery. Press that button and see how many lights come on. If all of them are lit then you have successfully charged you battery.

I am sure you pressed the power on button on your laptop. Make sure you are pressing the right button. If it still does not start at all then you received a Dead On Arrival (DOA) piece. You may have to request a replacement.

Another word of advice from a dell user. Look into buying a new HP laptop. Dell is just not the same quality any more

Try taking it off the charger? Did you fallow the instructions. If it still won't work I would take it back to the store and either ask for help or a new one.

Take the battery out, plug it in, and turn it on. If it turns on, it's probably just a problem with the battery. You can slide the battery back into the bay once it is on, if it charges you should be fine, otherwise you'll need to replace it.

It sound's like you did everything right. Maybe you gat a bad battery....it happens. Contact help/support line that should be somewhere in all the paperwok that you got. If you bought it at Best Buy send it in and get a new one, they send you a gift card for the complete price that you paid.

sound like u hav a power problem with ur laptop.sometimes, it just need to press on power button for a couple of second.if still doesn't work , return.
