If what all the gossip rags are saying about Isaiah Washington's (who plays Dr. Preston Burke) recent outburst is true, how do you think the producers of Grey's should handle the situation? Does this warrant writing the character off (as some have been calling for), or do you think his intent was misconstrued?

For those of you who don't know much about chokegate, or TR Knight's (who plays George O'Malley) recent statment, I've attached a link below:

I think its all a huge rumor. I'm sure that the fight wasn't, but it must've all gotten out of hand. Didn't he, (Washington) just sign a two year contract along with the rest of them? He'd be easy to kill off, as many people have mentioned on LJ. Burke isn't that important on the show anymore this season .. I could care less if he was or wasn't. Now that it's Derek vs Mark, instead of derek vs burke, he's not as much in the plot i think. or, it's more like his story lines are boring. chicken surgeries, really.

I don't think that he should be fired over a fight (although i did hear that he was homophobic and was getting angry at TR Knight and that Patrick Dempsey stepped up?). It definitely would be easy to cut his character off the show though .. but most of this is probably just a big tabloid hoax.

No I don't think that will happen. I think his character is needed in the show to bring some balance. You know I've heard that this is the second fight on the set involving Patrick Dempsey. So I don't know who started it by getting up in who's face but I heard that just as quickly as they started it, it was over and they sat together at script talk through. I heard it announced that T.R. Knight is gay. I've kind of thought that for a long time.

Not yet. He has 2 strikes against him now, but if he can mend things with Knight and Heigl, then I say let him stay. One more problem with him might lead to the end of his days. You can only hope for the best. BUT, in all honesty, I don't think the show would be missing much if he left. I can't say that about the other characters.

I don't think they will fire him until situations get intense like the TV show Charmed when Shannen Doherty told the producers to choose between her or Alyssa Milano and we all know how that went. So I think if that happens on Grey's, they will choose Dempsey and Washington will be outta there.

I'm sure personality conflicts happen behind the scenes all the time. If you watch Gilmore Girls the actors who play Luke and Loralei apparently hate each other but you'd never know it on screen. If it has to come down to deciding the fate of the show or the cast Id rather see Washington leave than the show end. And they have the perfect story line to write him off now...he cant get his hand coordination back, he cant work so he leaves.

Seems to me they already handled it. Lots of people get in spats at work. Patrick Dempsey seemed ok with everything...he's the one that should be complaining if anyone was going to.

The link you gave is basically to an online tabloid...Tabloid's are never very credible. Or at least make things out to be worse than they are.
