1. Either spelling seems reasonable transliteration. I think Aeolus is the normative one.

2. Aeolus is sometimes identified as the son of Orseis, sometimes as the son of Poseidon, and sometimes of Hippotes.

3. They are brother and sister.

The family tree below is very handy.

Aeolus, Guardian of the Four Winds. Both spellings are acceptable, as the two languages are not exactly compatible. Aeolus is the more common spelling, however.
I couldn't find any connection between Aeolus and Poseidon, but that does not mean the connection has not been made somewhere. By my reading, Aeolus was the son of a king called Hippotes, so no connection there.
Poseidon is actually Demeter's brother. Both are children of the Titans, Cronus and Rhea.

1) It is Aeolus
2) There are three people in Greek mythology who have this name: Æolus, Eolus, Æolos,Aeolus, or Aiolus

3) Briefly, the first Æolus was a son of Hellen and founder of the Æolian race; the second was a son of Poseidon, who led a colony to the Tyrrhenian Sea; and the third Æolus was a son of Hippotes who is mentioned in the Odyssey as Keeper of the Winds in Greek Mythology. All three men named Æolus appear to be connected genealogically, although the precise relationship is often ambiguous. The traditions regarding the second and third Æolus are especially entangled.

4) Poseidon is believed to have married Demeter--their child, Arion.

Herakles is the Greek spelling (it means "glory of Hera", or "glory to Hera"--Herakles's mother worshipped Hera, but Zeus raped her in the guise of her husband and so he was yet another bastard son of Zeus, which eternally pissed off Hera, who used to be quite the queen goddess in her own right. It's a pun.) Hercules is the Latinized spelling that the Romans used.

I'd say Aeolus, because usually when the letter "O" is used in English spelling, it represents the Greek letter "omega", and "u" represents "omicron." I'm fairly sure his name ends in omicron-sigma, which would transliterate to "us." But spelling of Greek in translation varies based on the translator, and when the piece was translated, and the mood at the time of translation...it's not set in stone. Well, Greek spelling itself isn't set in stone. I mean, unless it's set in stone...you know what I mean.

Sometimes a few different people will have similar names, or be the same person but with slightly different stories based on the region. Same name may or may not be the same person. I'd say any kind of Aeolus spelling is pretty much the same guy--it's not a very popular name. He's usually the west wind, though.

The correct spelling is Aeolus. He was Poseidon's son, and I believe he was Demeter's son as well.

The correct spelling is Aloeus and Poseidon was his father. Since Cronus was the father of both Poseidon and Demeter, they would be siblings.

Metis, the Titan goddess of Wisdom who was the first wife of Zeus. She was the wisest of all the Titans, and she is also the mother of my favorite goddess, Athena. Metis is strong and independent. Though she was tricked into turning herself into a fly by her beloved husband, Zeus, and was swallowed because he was afraid that if she were to have a son, he would overthrow him. It was because she is powerful that the son she were to "have" would be able to overthrow the powerful god Zeus. Wisdom is the most important trait a person would have. Trickery and smarts won't come in handy when you must solve an important problem of your life, would it? Well it would, but wisdom tells you the better of choice that you should take. Metis was the best Titan, and the wisest. If it weren't for her, Athena won't come to be, and she is my favorite goddess. People should be able to remember such an important figure in Greek mythology, though she was only mentioned a few times. She has beauty, empathy, interdependency and wisdom, what else can a woman have?
