I'm in the Canadian army I know all about tweeking but the truth is that both of our Countries are loosing our boys, and it bothers me to think their sacrifice isnt apreaceated, on both sides of the border..That type of tweeking I have a hard time to deal with.. Lost troops is not a joke to me.. Those boys are doing what they believe to be the right thing man.. No matter what we really believe is behind the reality. Those men are dead for our 2 countries. I hope in the end it was worth it

I thank you all for your awsome answers. I think it was a great question and if nothing else I hope it prevolked a bit of thought. I think we all want whats best for the west and our allies.. We just feel differant on how to go about it.. try to remember there are enough in this world that hate us without us hating eachother
I can't pick the best answer they were all good and honest except maybe 2 that I don't think they put much thought into their answers
Ill leave the voteing up to you all for best answer and again Thanks

I think it is the concept of duality. Everything is split right in two these days with no gray area in between. Good or Evil.. Republican or Democrat.. For or Against... there is no acceptance of people who really just want to stay in the middle and take things on a case by case basis. Think about it.. when you seemingly divide the nation over petty things, nothing real ever happens. While the common man is bickering and name calling the Senate is developing plans that will benefit the few and the rich. We don't realize it because we're too busy with petty fighting. Meanwhile, the government is slowly evolving into an entity that does not do anything to benefit it's people and the society.

People in general are moved either by passion or logic. There are those who feel powerless by the fear inducing speeches made by the Republicans, and therefore they would give them more power. And those who know better, who have studied McCarthy and the "Politics of Fear". Many Americans like myself are caught in the middle. I did not support the war and in fact my reasoning's for not going to war have all come in to being. However, I also realize that we can not leave Iraq in a shambles. I am tired of the name calling and finger pointing. I know where the propaganda for war developed, what I want to know now is how we are going to solve the problem. I would love for a politician to come into the ring not with fists a flying but with dialog. I would love to see diplomacy return to the White House. Otherwise nothing will get done to bring the country back together. And our allies will become more and more disillusioned with American ambition.

A lot of it has to do with the war, but a lot of it has to do with how the US is being portrayed to the rest of the world. Are we saving people from missing out on being better democracies, or are we placing our views over the interest of other nations?
The current administration has the world divided over loving the US or hating the US, so that in turn makes for some angry Americans. There is the climate that you are either "with us or against us" in America right now, so that makes for divided state of opinion. Canada has their opinions on the the state of the world, and they don't agree with the Bush administration's view of it. I think it is a good thing Canada is speaking for itself and not just supporting things they don't agree with.
The election season is coming up, so that really brings out the vocal people. I myself don't fear the "divide" that you ask about. It's through such "divide" that America was formed, and it's what keeps this country moving forward. You sometimes have to shake up the status-quo in order to make a better country.

We fight with each other because America, as a nation, has come to believe there is some great value in polarizing itself instead of working together and letting common sense prevail. We have become too dependant on politics, religion and culture as things to identify with, and it always has to be a label that divides between right and wrong instead of what makes sense and what works or what doesn't.THAT, my Northern friend, is were our great, BS puritanical orientation has done more to corrupt us than anything else with anger and divisiveness over the exact nature of "god's plan" for us and "Right and wrong".Frankly, Jung would have had a field day with modern America's fixation over good guy and bad guy archetypes-with each respective party firmly convinced they are the good guys of course. But reality is quite a bit different.
and ain't it funny how few people have the courage to embrace the one label that is determined to **** just about EVERYBODY off to one degree or another.I'll give you a hint-It starts with an S and ends with an IST. some of us wear it with pride...;)
Nothing constant:Would that most people see things the way you do.It's almost as if critical thinking is a crime or something.
Good on you!

This country has been divided severely ever since the ones who had held power for 40 years felt evicted.. This goes back 12 years. It was divided before then but not with such vociferous, vehemence and vindictive attacks... If you are a keen observer, you will see which side is really on the "Search and destroy"mission.

Are you listening to the news, real Americans, or this online community?
Put us in a room together with a few beers, and I doubt you would be able to find much "petty bickering". As usual, there would be an idiot or two, and they would be thrown out the door. I'm sure there are idiots in Canada too!
We love Canada! If Jeb Bush is elected president, you may get a lot of Americans requesting citizenship up there!

I honestly believe that people were no longer raised to respect the opinion of others. I find myself mentally using the word "moron" more then I should. We were raised with sarcastic and caustic comedians in a world where you hire lawyers everytime something bad happend and point a finger. Sooner or later this was going to end up here. With people having a certain expectation that people should agree with them or else they're stupid. It's arrogance really. On both sides - Dem and Reps. And boths ides of the border - Canada & US. We're all fighting over who's smarter and who's plans are better. That used to be a lot more fun, before people started going ballistic over every little difference.

in my opinion its the liberals refusal to accept the fact that the American people do not want what they have to offer, which is reinforced daily be liberals Constance defense of those trying to kill us,and are killing are troops, yet they refuse to see the enemy,of all Americans, and in November when they lose again, they will just further divide us,and weaken us even more,by there accusations of fraud, they can not understand that Americans do not want to be defeated,do not want to be lap dogs of the u.n.,and do not want other countries to make decisions for us,we do not want to be like the europeans, which liberals seem to want to be!

Americans have always enjoyed the right to freedom of speach. Some of us get carried away sometimes.
I think it is wrong to name call, etc. After all, we are all Americans, right?
