What do you expect? This is the British Government we are talking about?

People who have worked hard all their lives or given up their everything for this country get sh.it on from a great height.

Any scrounger who comes here, not even caring about this country, to get what he can is given free accommodation, benefits etc.

Why should anyone who has given their all for this country have to be left to the mercy of charities (most of which are over stretched and unable to help very much if at all). the Government has taken enough from them over the years, it should pay some of it BACK!

The bad part of this question isn't that it was asked, but rather that there was a reason to ask.
When I joined the Marine Corps, and when my father joined the Marine Corps, it was on the understanding that we would be taken care of (medical, and other issues) in oiur retirement. That was a promise made to EVERY military member, and slowly, and surely, the US Government (BOTH parties) are taking those promises away from us just as surely as they did the American Indian.
As for the Veteran's Administration? That is staffed by a bunch of incompetent beauracrats who are in it for the paycheck, because they reealize the sysytem is broken and un-fixable.
Example:
My father was a 24 year Marine vet with 4 tours in Vietnam, both as an "advisor" and as a combatant. He recieved 3 purple hearts, a Silver Star, a Navy Cross (the Marine's 2nd highest award behind the Medal of Honor), and retired honorably out of the Marine Corps. When he went to a VA hospital to help him with the brain tumor that he received from Agent Orange exposure, he was inelligable for treatment because they said he had only spent 3 years active, and had no combat time.

The vets are out there, and they are being as mistreated as the others in our society who are "downtrodden"... and it is our fault.

I wouldn't believe everything you see on the news. The mentally ill don't always want help even if its offered and who knows why they left the forces. This story's a great propoganda tool for an anti war media.
