There isnt enough info in that question.
If a triangle had sides of 1 inch, 2 inches, it couldn't possible have a 3" side. That would be a straight line.

Is there a picture?? I think its 1 because its 1/2 the base x height.

You need to know the height to know the area. Is it a picture or just the numbers?

base squared+ h squared= hypotenuse squared
put in the base and hypotenuse and then solve for h
