I have come to accept that some people do not like the president and are very vocal about it. Free speech is a right and I don't have to like what is being said. However, I continue to read posts about how the government is going to take over. We are going to lose all our freedoms, be interned or killed if we don't agree, etc. What makes these people think the American people wouldn't revolt against this were it to happen? What makes these people think that American military personnel would just blindly follow under such circumstances? Wouldn't the Republicans be pushing gun control, if this was their ultimate agenda? After all an armed populace is hard to control? I don't know about you, but the only people I have seen attack gun owners is Democrats and their administrations. The ultimate question here is do these people really believe that they are so much more intelligent and informed than the rest of us? I know my answer.
What say you?

g: I support free speech completely, even when I don't agree. The question is more related to dim view that some citizens have in regard to other citizens in this area. We can disagree on government, but is it not counter-productive to lump the entire electorate into the same group just because you don't like who they might have voted for?

I can only speak for myself, however, the loss of freedoms never takes place over night. They can slowly be taken away and diverted without the realization of the people. Look at Hitler, Mussolini or Stalin. I am not likening Bush or the Republican party to those Regimes. What I want you to think about is how one person or government can convince a large body of people to turn against each other in such a horrifying manner. Typically a little bit of fear is installed in the people's psyches. History repeats itself and that is what educated people fear more than anything. All governments eventually fall. And it usually involves the people, and it usually evolves over time.

The agenda is power just like it has always been, and it’s not that they think they wont rebel, just that they wont notice until it’s too late, that’s why they are exercising that right to free speech. They belief that the military will follow because they lost faith in the ability of the military to separate right from wrong because of recent scandals, and Of course people don’t trust Republicans they have lied to us countless times; phone taping, Torturing , …. Republicans may want less gun control but that’s only because that’s the popular stance. No mater how many guns we have there is no way we could stop the government even if we wanted to. Last but not lest yes, they do think they are smarter because during the last two elections you voted in Bush enough said.

Like the old saying.. if you throw enough manure up on the wall, some of it will stick..
This hatred is not for the man but because they lost the election and the power they presumed was their right to retain.
As the thinking is of the moment, the terrorists are pulling for a democratic win in Nov. Then they can continue without any interference from the world. They have taken much of what the dems spew out and made it their mantra, for recruiting more terrorists.

"What makes these people think the American people wouldn't revolt against this were it to happen."
It's happening now and the Republicans are encouranging rather than revolting. Bush can now imprison someone for life merely by calling them a "terrorists" and the courts can't intervene. We can now torture people or oursource torture.
I don't claim to be more intelligent or more informed than many Republicans. Many were simply scared to death by 9/11 and now see terrorists in every dark corner. They believe the way to fight terrorism is with terrorist tactics. Also, many believe that God has in fact blessed Americans more than another people on earth and that Americans are called by Him to stamp out evil in the world so we can preserve the American way according to God's will.

well.. the thing is... most people are speaking out because we don't want it to have to get to that point of an armed revolution... if people would have spoken up in the past as dictatorships were on the rise... many lives would have been saved...
revolutions are sometimes needed, but they aren't easy, clean or probably recommended, if they can be avoided...
and also, history shows... many militaries have fired on thier own people... it's naive to think it would never happen here... I hope it never does happen, but I don't want to "bank on it"
EDIT:
well some seem to want to give up freedoms for security... and I think that's a dangerous thing... I don't have a lot of faith in those people, but they seem to be the minority these days, so I'm not too worried...

in case you're taking an intensive look, we very almost have already got that in the time of a few places. Overzealous cops are rampant criminals themselves. merely attempt to video reveal what is going on late at night and view the extensive ranges of investment for police departments around the rustic. they have greater weapons, contraptions and stuff than many small countries' protection forces. alongside with that evaluate all this "Patriot Act" crap that enables them to flee with very almost something. Being in regulation Enforcement was a noble profession yet anymore they're all merely thugs. So, Bush would not might desire to declare martial regulation considering they might accomplish a similar concern without asserting it.

People who are worried don't fear gun control, they fear media and information control. Information control is probably the most powerful resource used in government today. Lies being told, and the truth covered up. That sort of thing.

I have little to no faith in my fellow citizens who are Bush supporters because they often attack those who don't support Bush as being unpatriotic or "anti-American". A lot of shades of fascism there.

Most of the morons to which you refer are white, male, sixteen years old, living in the 'burbs with mommy and daddy, without friends or anything remotely like a real life, pissed off and looking for someplace or someone to take it out on, and just generally bored, stupid, dazed, and confused.
With that kind of a load to carry can we be surprised at the dufelessness, arrogance, self-assuredness, and self-righteousness of their "questions" and "answers"?
Feel sorry for them, for they are the weak and pathetic and require all the support with which we can supply them.
