This question was posed recently on a popular talk show and comes from an actual ad in a local newspaper. I'm going to copy the ad word for word as it was read on the air:

"Male, young business professional, 30 years of age, seeking young lady from the age of 18 to 25 to live in my home in an upscale neighborhood, rent free in exchange for doing the cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. Must have own transportation.
House contains all the luxury amenities you could want including flat-screen televisions, dishwasher and other appliances." And there was more along but you get the idea of what this guy is looking for.
Surprisingly, most of the women that called into the talk show to comment, stated that they'd take the offer. However, a small majority indicated that this ad was downright 'sexist.' What say you ladies? Would you consider this a personal affront to women and denounce it as 'sexist' or would you consider taking the offer?

"Seeking a young lady from 18-25 years old" Hum...doesn't sound like a cleaning lady that your looking for, maybe a bed buddy?

If he left out the young lady part, he'd probably get men willing to take the job also. So the sexist part is not the cleaning for free rent, but the offer of a job only to a woman. Reverse discrimination against men. Or thinking of cleaning as only woman's work.

I'd say the deal itself is pretty good considering someone that worked for a cleaning company would probably have to clean 3 or 4 houses in order to meet monthly rent payments. However, since he is specifying the age requirements, I'm thinking he's got more than house-cleaning chores in mind for the young lady. Turn the offer down.

You are absolutely right! A clean house is definately much more important than being on yahoo answers but cleaning my house is a complete waste of time because the slobs that live with me destroy the clean house within minutes of me scubbing the house sparking clean.

I would take the offer. If I had no children and was paying rent, why not? I have to do all these things any way.

If I was benefited also then it wouldn't be a bad deal......but if you really think about it is a sexist comment but who's to say.....

no, i won't take the offer. unless i was dead broke and living on the streets. then, the offer might sound real good, like music to my ears!

Personally, it does not bother me but I would not do it. Too many ways that situation could go "uncomfortable".
