One of our kittens had such a "wise" little face that we named her "Yoda". As always with our cats and dogs, the name evolved...
One day she made a really unpleasant aroma in her litter box and she gained the nickname "Odor". I felt badly about it, though, and call her "Oh-Dear" instead.
My daughter's cat started his life as "Crotch kitten" because he inevitably ended up sleeping in someone's crotch. We decided that was not a terribly dignified name (and he is a stunningly beautiful black cat), so we named him Bran after an Irish hero, Bran the Blessed. (His mama's name was Branwen, so this fit rather well). He's still formally called Bran most often, but he has gained a number of other nicknames over the past couple of years. He's scared of nearly everything, so we started calling him "Chicken Cat" or "Bock-bock", which he does not like at all. (An affront to his dignity, I'm sure). One day when we were trying to clean his ears and he was struggling and squealing like I was trying to cut them off instead of just clean them, I said to him "Bran, don't be such a boobie!!" and his latest nickname was born. When he's being especially difficult about something, we call him Boobie now.
Those are just two examples amongst many ;p

I once had a pet rat. His name was Fergus. Unfortunately he got out and splattered by a car. Poor little guy but now he's in the great rat Heaven in the sky. I sure miss him sometimes. "Sniff"

How about Globad? Or Shishta? Random sounds added together make great names.
