what is with music elitists?

i dont like when people only like bands until they have a popular song and then say theyve sold out. why is that selling out? isnt it the goal of a band to get people to listen to its music?

also what is it with people who say someone has "bad taste in music". i dont think there is such a thing as 'bad' tatse. bad taste to me means something different than it does to you anyway.

i feel like people who only like less known music do it even more to fit in then the people who like popular music. i mean they have thier own clothing styles (emo, goth, indie) to go along with the music. its like a uniform...

Musicians are artists, and true artists care more about satisfying themselves then making money, although I doubt any musician would turn down a record contract. There are elitist in everything, so why should music be any different? Listen to whatever you want, but understand that other people look at music in a different light than you, and just as you shouldn't be judged on it by them, you shouldn't judge them. Rock on.

It's the same with elitists in any field, just that music brings out the worst kind of snobbery.

Musicians want to be successful, and good luck to anyone who is.

I agree with the taste thing, no one can tell someone else that ehy have bad taste in music. Their taste may be different, but it's their own.

There are too many clones out there who can't think for themselves and are afraid to like something different because of peer pressure.

the music you listen to defines your character so if you see someone who you can't identify with then you can't accept that because its so influential.
