I've been advised to take some time off because of stress, which has lead to a flare up of an exsisting heart condition!

Its probably because you hate your job that you have become unwell and should perhaps start looking for another one. By law no employer can sack you for being sick if you have a doctors note whether you have a contract or not otherwise you can take them to court for unfair dismissal. You must however follow the procedures of your company, ring your boss before the time stated, tell him what is wrong with you and how long you expect to be off. Then make an apointment with your doctor and TELL your doctor that you are concerned about your job because you are unwell. By doing this it is now on record so if your employer does give you problems you can refer to it at a later date. Stritcly speaking you do not need a doctors note for the first 5 days of your sickness and you can self certificate yourself before this time (your employer will have this certificate for you to complete and your GP should also have this.) Statutory sick pay is not normally paid for the first 3 days of your sickness although some companies do vary, its then paid at a weekly ammount of roughly £68.00 (you will only be paid this if you have a doctors note as it is paid to your employer by the government) If your company pays their own sick pay and you are a full time employee they are obliged to pay you this. I strongly advise you to ring your employer in the morning otherwise you could face disciplinary action and won't have a leg to stand on. During the time you are off sick do yourself a favour and look for another job try: www,jobcentreplus.gov.uk. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get well soon. If your employer does give you any grief because of your illness call your local Citizens Advice Bureau.
PS Trust me on my advice, I am a payroll/admin clerk and I get manual employees with 'upset stomachs/ too much booze the night before' every day and by following the right rules the get away with it!

If you're a permanent employee of the company, regardless of whether or not you have a contract, you are entitled to time off for medical reasons specified by your doctor. Provide your company, the Human Resource Department, or your Boss with this notice. You should be entitled to receive compensation unless your are a "subcontractor" or working through an employment agency.

Always call the employer to let them know if you will be absent, otherwise it will negatively impact your reputation as an unreliable employee and may prevent other future work.

Y have you no contract? have you only just started?
Everyone can self certify, if off for 3 days or less, but i would get that sick note and have a week off (sounds like you need it). Wont necessarily get paid if you are a casual employee but mental well-being is more important.

You can self-certficate for the 1st seven days and then get a doctors note. If you really hate your job that much- you need to find another as being unhappy at work is not good for your mental, emotional or physical health.

From what i have studied you want so great ******* better technologies to shuttle by ability of area like it is portrayed in sci-fi that or you want to wrinkle area and time. yet I truly do not imagine all of us, however in the journey that they are extra better than we are, have that. we may be able to work out three hundred billion (or is it million) basic years round us. it is a pin prick compared to the full of area and we received't even make it that a concepts. yet in the journey that they did seem i might want to welcome them(assuming they are non violent) and verify out to get the international to do a similar. EDIT-Why can we quickly assume that something "unusual or mystical" or something that we undeniable do not comprehend is extra better? I truly might want to imagine that possibly some progression yet have you ever examine something on how complicated it would want to be to shuttle billions and billions of sunshine years and nevertheless be alive by technique of the time they were given there? also, in basic terms because they could be extraterrestrial beings doesn't advise that they could stay tens of millions of years. perhaps growing older distinction yet yeah. it is my argument. i have appeared all this stuff up. i believe that there are extraterrestrial beings. in basic terms no longer in the Sci-Fi we are a lot extra constructive than you way. i did not say they were immortal notwithstanding. i'm in basic terms declaring that the technologies to shuttle area like we opt to is really damn better. definite, different civilizations on different planets might want to have it notwithstanding this is somewhat not likely. you would possibly want to truly ought to wrinkle time OR positioned human beings into stasis and function an autopilot deliver. nevertheless, this is type of improbable to me. yet to each and every their personal.

Just call in instead of not showing up and if you still have sick time, you are entitled to it whether you have a cold or if it is mental. Does not matter what the nature of “sick” is you are still entitled to your time.
