and just an ordinary bloke with no family connections etc
Do you think he could get a job on the Drive-thru window at McDonalds?
Or would that maybe be "aiming a bit too high" for him . . .

You know, it can be a bit "taxing" - having to remember to say "Would you like to supersize your meal sir?" and "Thank you drive thru". It might prove a bit much for his poor brain and he'd get fired after two days. . . .
Good job his daddy got him into the White House really I suppose . . .

I am sure he would be a bankrupt businessman and not a president.

Aiming too high. He couldn't do it. He is too weak, too given to substance abuse. He is of average intelligence, with several major weaknesses.
However, if he was humble, he could probably get by. I don't look down on homeless alcoholics, it's a way of life and I respect it. If he had smart parents with reasonable means, he might have been a functioning member of society.
I do wonder what kind of experiment we could do that would actuallly test the mettle of the guy without his advisors and the wall of automatic respect he always recieves.
Watch the first of the 2004 debates, and you'll get a pretty good idea about how capable this guy is.
You know, the one that happened before they determined he needed a wireless headphone set.

He would be working a boring low paying office job somewhere. He would go to work, do menial tasks, get alot of orders from superiors, and would spend alot of time in the break room. Then for fun on the weekends he would go to a rodeo, a not too intelligent type movie, or would sit around watching a football game in his home while drinking cheap beer with the dudes he hangs around with in the break room at work. He would constantly talk about scoring with women at work that he has no chance at getting. His friends would laugh and after a few hours everyone would go home. Repeat this process for years. That would be his life. Guaranteed.

Considering Bush has taken more vacations than any President in History, I doubt McDonald's would accommodate his trips to Crawford, TX. He claims they're "working vacations". They gave him a whole freakin' Oval Office to work in with a huge staff and he spends a good part of the year in "East of Jesus, Texas" hiding out.

Even though I am sure he had help from pops, he was a
successful businessman before he went into politics. He also
was a successful Governor of Texas, but he is president only
for one reason - He had nothing but bufoons running against
him. John Kerry ? Give me a break !
I offer my regrets that you still have to work at McDonalds.
Maybe you too could be president if you tried real hard.

There was this homeless man who used to walk around my town, who was mute, who eventually got a job sweeping the floor at Taco Bell...I'm sure the president would be good at that.
I'm glad to see that McDonalds has a nickname across the pond. Where I'm at, we call it MickeyD's.

I do not believe that Dubya is capable of manning a McD's Drive-thru window.

He just about scraped into the army on his own (dubious) merits. He could probably manage to work in McD... but not work competently.

It would be aiming too high. Those people handle money and their honesty is therefore important to their employment. I would not mind betting that McDonalds check employees out and reject those with a criminal record.
