eg: this web site coping.org had a large impact on my life because it changed me and helped me soul search and figure out who i am and why i do the things i do and how to fix them! witht hat knowledge i'm a better person there for with out coping.org i would be in the same rut that i was in 4 years ago

it meant that it has affected you in a big way. It has somehow changed you or some aspect of your life or the way you think or feel about a particular subject. Thats about as simple as it can be put. It just means that whatever the event was that had a big impact on you is an important, and somehow, life altering event.
