I definately wouldn't say your short but DAMN man eat a cheeseburger or 2 for gods sake...Also I would recommend the Honda rebel as a great light and low bike. They come in 450 and 250 and both are great starter bikes. Good Luck

Most anything in the 250 cc range (except dual sports) will have a low seat height. If you like light weight, I wouldn't recommend anything over 500 cc. There are a few great choices out there larger than 250 cc - some that come to mind are the Buell Blast, Kawasaki Vulcan 500, and Kawasaki Ninja 500, all of which are likely to fit you. It depends on which one has the right style and comfort for you, so I'd suggest visiting a lot of dealerships and seeing how comfortable you are on different bikes.

Dude, at 5'7, I don't think you're going to have many problems! Try being 5'3.
But enough about me. You haven't really given enough info for us to make a good recommendation. It sounds like just about any street bike out there will work for you. You just have to choose one that'll do what you want it to.
I can make a personal recommendation for the Magna. It's got a 28" seat height, goes about 500 pounds, and is a V4 which means it's fast and powerful enough for most people.
They're no longer made, and I don't know what year they stopped. But if you're in the market for a used bike, you might want to look for one.
At an evenly-proportioned 5'3, a 28" seat height is nearly ideal for me. So for you that would be a cake walk unless you're all torso.

I'm 5' 9" and 135 lbs. I have no problem with my '06 FXD.
The seat height on my CB750K is higher, but I really have not found a bike that was difficult to straddle. Why do you need a light one? The FXD was hard to pick up from it's side, but that was before some of the good people here explained how it should be done(bluffmike).

unfortunately most of the short bikes are cruisers of small displacement. the Honda rebel 250, the Suzuki savage 650 single. check out some magazines and websites for the major companies will list seat heights. the best thing to do is go to a dealership and ask if you can sit on some of the bikes. don't wear anything with a zipper on the front though. unless you have really short legs, you're actually not that short

I had an 85 Suzuki Intruder. Very low. 26 or 27 maybe. Only 450 plbs. I am 5'5" and 150lbs. I could pick it up no problem. I think my inseam is 32" though.
Now I have an 04 V-Star. It is 550 lbs. Feels like the same height.
Most cruisers now are pretty low, I don't think you will have a problem. Except maybe for Goldwings and Victories. Prob some Harleys.
