Neither. Unless "A" is a direct quotation. Drop the quotations. A will still stand out in your sentence without being incorrectly highlighted.

The first one. The period ends the sentence, it is not part of the name of the exhibit which is "A".

Periods and commas do NOT always precede closing quotation marks- only if what is inside the quotes is a sentence. For instance, Johnny said, "Let's go to school." In your case, either option is considered correct, although I think the first one reads better.

the first one is correct. period and commas only precede closing quotation mark when it is a continuous statement. eg. go "go to school now". or "go to school now," or you'll be late.
