1. Although there is no format for an invitation letter, a free form letter from you is necessary. In the letter you explain the reason of her visit and your financial involvement/non-involvement

2. Your friend needs a proof of financial support during her/his visit (copy of a bank statement, salary information, affidavit from you if you're paying the expenses)

3. A consul officer needs some evidence that your friend won't stay illegally in the U.S. and will return back home. The officer needs some proof of strong links with Russia (employment, relatives, property). If she is employed, a letter stating that she's granted a vacation is almost necessary.

Other information about the process you and your friend will find here:

Well, if she is a single female without a super cool job and without much property, there's a good chance you can do nothing to get her to the US - unless you marry her.

If that's not the case, you should write an official invite letter (it would be best if you talk to a lawyer about it) and either promise that all expenses will be on you or make sure he/she provides some paper from a bank showing that he/she's got some money.
Still, there's a good chance that the visa won't be granted. It's like a lottery :)

Good luck.

You need to provide a letter of invitation for your friend to apply for a visa. You will have to sponsor your friend with a place to live and food so the US Govt will give your friend a visa. Your friend will need a current passport, letter of invitation and money for a round trip plane ticket in order to apply for a visa. It's not easy and can take a long time but don't get discouraged.

You need to do nothing. She needs to go to the embassy with a passport and get a visitor visa. She needs to take financial documntation saying she could afford the visit.

You DO need to do one thing that WILL help your friend a lot. You need to write the invitation letter to your friend.(providing information : your name, address, and the reason) As soon as your friend will get it, he/she needs to go to the embassy with the passport , some kind document proving that he/she is going to be back to his/her country and money ( about $100).

Good luck,
Svetlana
