I was part of the first wave that went across the border in Operation Iraqi Freedom. I was a Combat Nurse (91WM6) with the 21 CSH out of Ft. Hood, Tx., so I have first-hand experience with this subject.
Without exception, every single soldier, sailor, airman, marine, and coastie is "qualified" to do the job that they are paid to do. You must go thru a qualification process for whatever job you are paid to do in the military. If you fail to qualify in that job, you are "recycled" (meaning retrained) until either you pass the qualification requirements or you are sent off to another school to learn another job. However, because you are qualified doesn't mean that you are necessarily any good at it.
I saw E-2 privates who could do 10X more than their sargeants. I also saw E-2 privates that I wouldn't trust to walk my dog, let alone depend on them to save my life or back me up while I was saving someone else. I also had sargeants that I would have charged the gates of Hell with a can of gasoline strapped to my back and felt certain that he would have gotten me out of there alive.
I saw officers freeze under fire while us enlisted returned fire with decisive force. I also saw officers literally lead the charge from the front while we were struggling to keep up so that they didn't get blasted without us being there to cover them.
The goal of EVERY soldier (regardless of branch or rank) is to get home and take their buddies home alive. A unit with this common goal knows each other's strengths and weaknesses and will adjust accordingly to make sure that the weaknesses can't be exploited by the enemy.
For instance my company commander when we went into Iraq was a Puerto Rican woman whose English was so hard to understand that when she gave orders, we had to just say "Yes ma'am!" and then later ask each other what the hell she was saying. Our First Sargeant would translate her orders for us later (out of her earshot) and then we would execute those orders. Consequently, because we knew that we would never be able to understand what she was talking about during the heat of battle, we had all worked out a plan of action BEFORE we got into the heat so that we could all get home.
Are the qualified? Absolutely. Are they capable? Absolutely. Give a soldier and order and they will FIND a way to make it happen.

nicely somewhat all infantrymen in all Armies are (we could certainly assume) keen to stick to the orders of their commanders without query. the adult adult males and girls in the U.S. defense force who obey orders and carry them out to the terrific of their skills far outweighs the form of people who do no longer. in terms of power, their appropriate asset is their power in numbers. They at the instant have 2,500,000 workers in lively provider, with yet another 800,000 in reserve. (no longer counting the three,000,000 or so paramilitary forces in addition they have.) The U.S. has around a million,4 hundred,000 on lively accountability with with regard to the comparable in reserve. i do no longer understand plenty approximately China's preparation or how many human beings enlist out of necessity vs. great advantages, yet while they practice something like i think of they do, then their workers do no longer draw many of the comparable advantages that our adult adult males do. human beings in all probability reenlist for a paycheck, foodstuff, and a place to stay and be taken care of, the place our adult adult males can look ahead to a discharge and advantages that can deliver approximately a school degree and a miles extra promising destiny on the civilian section.
