probably a lot...the present day Neo-con ideology comes from the Liberal side actually and Trotskyism desires a state of being more like extermist Liberal... wanting things to be like the ideal of 1840's Marxism as well as capitalistic society. I think Trotskyism is much different from Leninism because of the lack of capitalism.
But Neo-Conservativism is not really pro society like socialism, it is actually more like a Communist system of control with Capitalism...but they do share the idea of a "world order" of a free market...Neo-cons seem however to be intent on controlling society to get this world order of theirs. I think their ideology is in flux, this is a grand experiment of theirs.
People get confused with socialism...it's not the same as Communism... Communism is actuaally the opposite of Democracy....you can either have a free market with Capitalism or Democracy...but there isn't a pure form of Free Market Communism...Russia is trying unsuccessfully from the point of view of Communism and we are changing from the point of view of Democracy. It really boils down to a very strong central government.
quote in wikipedia:
"Trotskyism and Neoconservativism
The neoconservative or "neocon" movement has been associated with Trotskyism, for example by paleoconservatives like Justin Raimondo, because of the Trotskyist background of some of its key figures, such as Irving Kristol. [1], [2], [3]
The supposed desire of the neocons to spread democracy abroad has been likened to the Trotskyist theory of permanent revolution. Author Michael Lind argues that the neoconservatives are influenced by the thought of dissident Trotskyists such as James Burnham and Max Shachtman, who argued that "the United States and similar societies are dominated by a decadent, postbourgeois 'new class'". He sees the neoconservative concept of "global democratic revolution" as deriving from the Trotskyist Fourth International's "vision of permanent revolution". He also points to what he sees as the Marxist origin of "the economic determinist idea that liberal democracy is an epiphenomenon of capitalism", which he describes as "Marxism with entrepreneurs substituted for proletarians as the heroic subjects of history." However, few leading neoconservatives cite James Burnham as a major influence, as he differed with them on many issues.[4]
The association of former Trotskyists like Christopher Hitchens - once a member of the International Socialists (UK) - with neocons since 2001 has contributed to neconservativism's association with Trotskyism. Other former Trotskyists associated with neoconservativism include Willmoore Kendall (William F. Buckley, Jr.'s mentor) and Stephen Schwartz (a former member of the Fomento Obrero Revolucionario).
However, Stephen Schwartz has claimed there is an anti-semitic motive behind this association: "The U.S. neofascists who have thrown this accusation around use the term 'Trotskyist' the same way they use the term 'neoconservative:' as a euphemism for 'Jew.'"[5] "

The founders of neoconservatism, including Irving Kristol, (Bill Kristol's dad), were Trotskyites before they invented the neocon ideology. This is an historic fact, despite what the conservatives above would LIKE to believe.

None, one is a left wing policy maker who hated religion, the other a person who is extremely rightwing and supports Israel, because they think they will inherit it when the Armageddon comes.
