No I don't think that it is rising. I think that more people are feeling comfortable about coming out of the closet, which is a great thing.

Well, yes and no. It really depends. If anything the recent gay marriage thing has hurt the community. States like Mass. already supported gay couples, so nothing has changed there. The only thing that has happened was people against homosexuals are more vocal, which is a bad thing.
In my opinion the gay community and its friends need to unite and confront the haters and try harder to get their supporters into office. Not enough is being done.
In 20 years hopefully people will look back on the past few years as stupidity and ignorance, but if nothing happens within the next few years, it might be another 100 years before it is accepted within the United States. Europe and Canada are going far and above the United States in liberties the past few years.
Also, 'rising' is a little bad phrase. During the 18th and 19th century (and possibly before) homosexuality was acceptable and many politicians and writers had their flings with their own gender. It wasn't until the past 100 years that homosexuality became much more taboo across the globe.

Homosexuality is a historic constant. They have never numbered more than 8-10% of any population. What they have managed to do in the West (because we are open enough to allow their lifestyle) is gain some measure of political power. This is not in and of itself a bad thing. They have been abused throughout history and so are right and justified to demand equal protection under the law. Like any cause, it can be pursued to extremes. This tends to happen only in communities like San Francisco and other places where they congregate en masse (where they create the illusion that there are more of them than is actually the case). From these 'gaytopias' they try to change the character and traditions of all Americans by pursuing silly goals like the legitimizing of gay marriage and forcing the boyscouts to fill their ranks with their kind. Fortunately there are a whole lot more of us than there are of them. Every excess of their movement is roundly defeated by the people when our democracy deigns to give us a choice in the matter.

Certainly is among the young people of today. Many who appear to be gender confused at present. The gay comminity's power is certainly rising in political and economic circles though.

If by that you mean the number of gay people in the world, no, I think it's probably about the same. If you mean the number of gay people that are out and proud, then yes, I think more people are coming out and being comfortable with their sexuality. Hopefully that will continue.

more people are getting comfortable being themselves and break themselves free from this purely victorian invention that sex is immortal sin and homosexuality is even grave immortal sin (wutaeva!). I'm gay myself and there is nothing i can do but to be content.
Historical facts point to the roman emperors. All of the emperors even Julius cesar was somewhat bisexual and all of them had sex with men. The only emperor who didnt have sex with men was Tiberius but then he drank himself to death. Over time, with the rise of christianity, sex became a very secretive arrangement. Thats why all christians and muslims and jews a the same breed of intolerant a.s.s. wipes.

Do you mean increasing, or rising up together in support?
Increasing? Openly probably yes...I doubt there are more gay people than in the past...but they are finally now feeling more comfortable about being open about it...

bwahahahahaha.
Seriously, no. According to some research I read several years ago (can't find it right now) it seems that the proportion of a population that is homosexual varies from one part of the world to another, but seems to stay relatively stable within a given population.

I think that the population is growing, therefore a certain percentage of that population is going to be gay.
So, yes.
