Here's what my friend told me:
18 WAYS TO BE A GOOD LIBERAL
1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand.
2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.
3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens are more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Iran or Chinese and North Korean communists.
4. You have to believe that there was no art before federal funding.
5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's.
6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being homosexual is natural.
7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.
8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach
4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about - sex.
9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but PETA activists do.
10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.
11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own money to make "The Passion of the Christ" for financial gain only.
12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.
13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.
14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Gen. Robert E. Lee, and Thomas Edison.
15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.
16. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.
17. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag queens and transvestites should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.
18. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right-wing conspiracy.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
Oops, can't do that either

Funny, I don't buy into most of those items since you've twisted them beyond reality.
1. Against Both personally but see reaons why both are legal
2. Both create prosperity and both can create oppression
3. Every citizen has a right to bear arms -- but its not a free-for-all, there need to be some rules. Can I own a howitzer or Abrams tank?
4. The only art that should be federally funded, if at all, is arts for grade school and high schools. maybe grants for Symphony orchestras-- heck if we can publicly fund stadiums, why not classical music. That's it-- no mapelthorpe freaks.
5. Natural and human-induced factors contribute to global warming. Curbing pollution is a good thing. Even if that's not true, are you willing to take the chance?
6. Gener roles are not natural, and being a homo is natural-- mabye an abnormality or mutation but it is "natural". People don't just decide to be homo.
7. That's preposterous....
8. There should be sex-ed in schools by qualified teachers as a supplement to good parenting. How do you realistically think abortion rates can come down w/out education? Don't be naive.
9. Hunters do care about nature and reasonable means of wildlife management. PETA is a bunch of nut-jobs
10. Self-esteem is imporant-- but that comes from coaching and doing something to practially get it. Its not either or.
11. Mel did Passion to make money + he's a devout Catholic.
12. The NRA can be wacky and so can the ACLU. But both servie a useful purpose in defending thier focused parts of the constitution
13. Taxes are never too low. Gov Spending is too high. Don't use ATMs if the fees are too high.
14. Steinem and the other person are only somewhat important. But no where near as important as the others you mentioned.
15. standardized test are not racist. quotas are racist nobody advocates quotas-- but minorities should get some help. You don't want them all on welfare now do you?
16. Socialism doesn't work well. Most libs do not support socialism. Socialized medicine or access to medicine does not a socialist society make.
17. Gay parades ARE constiutionally protected. Xmas is protected too. Just not on Government property. I frankly don't care about xmas trees on gov property-- but would want Muslim Ramadan symbols in front of your city hall?
18. I believe that as usual, a rightie has taken extremem liberal goofiness and has generalized and twisted to make all libs seem this way.
yes, May God bless america. We have been blessed but we also need all the help we can get.

1. I am against the death penalty because you can't un-kill someone. I believe legal abortion is a personal choice that is better than illegal abortion. I believe abortion should be safe, legal and rare.
2. I believe businesses and governments should get behind the people whose toil makes them possible, not squeeze them for every drop of profit.
3. I believe that the second amendment should be subject to the same degree of reason applied to the first: you cannot yell "Fire!" in a crowded movie theater. You should not legally have a weapon that can singularly dispose of one, either.
4. I believe that the NEA serves more of a purpose than most of the pork handed out daily. It's eradication would affect no one but the corporate recipients of more pork.
5. I believe that peer reviewed scientific articles trump what somebody tells me. Science is our friend.
6. I believe that gender roles are different all over the world, yet all over the world there are homosexuals. Gender roles also change over time, no matter how much we want them not to.
7. I believe that AIDS cannot be cured without funded research.
8. I believe that safe sex prevents unwanted pregnancy and STDs. I don't believe sex is dirty or unnatural. I hope children learn to read by 4th grade.
9. I believe hunters dwell in the very environment we want to protect and are central to its protection. I'm not a PETA fan.
10. I believe that a level playing field brings out the best in all concerned. If only the wealthiest get opportunity, we're back in feudalism.
11. I believe that Mel Gibson is irrelevant to this discussion.
12. I think the NRA goes to far in wanting no ban on any weapon. I believe that the ACLU is absolutely essential in that as soon as one person is stripped of a constitutionally guaranteed right, we all have lost that right.
13. I believe that services cost money and that running billions of dollars in the red (literally, since our biggest creditor is China) is bad for America. Do you like roads, fire departments, police, the armed forces? Pay your taxes and quit whining.
14. I believe that history isn't a matter of who is more important, but the overall sum of the American experience.
15. I believe that a level playing field encourages everyone to b e at their absolute best.
16. I don't believe that the government providing services to the American people in return for taxes is socialism. I believe that is government.
17. I believe that any group has the right to gather and parade. I don't believe that Christianity is at a safe enough majority that when people fret about the forces allied against them, it's pretty funny.
18. I don't think you are part of a conspiracy, I just think you are highly susceptible to suggestion. You hear Limbaugh, Hannity or whoever and buy it hook, line and sinker.
Nobody said you can't say God Bless America. There's even a song to that effect you can look up online. Some of us can be Christians without having a fish on our bumper and some of us can be patriots without having flags and ribbons all over everything we own.

I agree to a point but that is extreme liberal,, But a person who votes Democrat isn't necessarily an extreme liberal and the same can be said about people voting Republican are not all extreme Conservative.. Most fall in the middle,Or a bit right or left of centre.. I think president Bush is an *** and the worst you ever had.. But I did like Regan I did like Bush Sr as well. As well I can say that Clinton did allot of good for the US and so did Carter in their own areas of expertise.. I think that the governing party changing every now and again keeps um more honest and not too radical.

Not one of your 18 points reflects the liberal believes .
YOU are lumping every single individual choice together and defining them .
Like i see no problem letting Gays get married or we can eliminate the special privilages it gives married people .Joint tax filings ,child tax credits ,retirement income distributions that would not be taxed if gay marrage was recognized .Lets end the heterosexual special privilage and then i will gladly say marrage is for two people of oppisite genders .Until a gay world religion is formed and followed by a few million people giving it status as a real religion .None of what you said makes any sense and is not what any liberal i know wants .
If you give a dog a bone then give all dogs bones is all i am saying .
No special privilages reserved for certain people .
Oh and lets move away from the whole concept of tests .
Lets judge people by what they are willing to do and not by what test scores they have .Then when everyone shows up to be a florist you can tell them you have to pass a test to be a florist .Just like a hunnndred other jobs that you must pass tests for .Like driving a car .I want to meet the person that does not pass that test .Is there one .

I fought in Vietnam as a Marine. I am against extreme gun control measures( people who have committed crimes with gun should not have them) I support our troops( a close friend of mine had a son killed in Iraq), but I do have a brain and use it. I question everything. I am a libertarian, not a political stepford wife who believes everything right wing holier than thou closet queen talk show hosts rant about. Having fought and bled for an ill conceived cause I have paid my dues. I have the medals to show for it. What do you have? Respond when your panties are dry.

Your flaw is in thinking that liberals have a standard message. With liberalism, there is often a sense of dismay with the way things currently are, but usually no single solution, and often no solution at all for the problem.
Anytime you lump liberals together in one group, you will find that pretty much nobody fits that group.
When you try to express a liberal solution, you will isolate yourself. The only reasonable expression is the complaint itself.

You and your friend are making it much to complicated. To be a liberal it helps to own a dictionary and know how to use it. That should keep you busy enough for a while.

25 Ways to be a good Republican;
1) Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you are
millionaire conservative radio jock, which makes it an illness and
needs our prayers for your recovery.
2) You have to believe that those privileged from birth achieve success
all on their own.
3) You have to believe that the US should get out of the UN, and that our
highest national priority is enforcing UN resolutions against Iraq.
4) You have to believe that government should stay out of people's lives
but it needs to punish anyone caught having private sex with the wrong
gender.
5) You have to believe that pollution is ok, so long as it makes a profit.
6) You have to believe in prayer in schools, as long as you don't pray to
Allah or Buddha.
7) "Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their
jobs to India.
8) You have to believe that a woman cannot be trusted with decisions about
her own body, but that large multi-national corporations can make decisions
affecting all mankind with no regulation whatsoever.
9) You have to believe that you love Jesus and Jesus loves you, and that
Jesus shares your hatred of AIDS victims, homosexuals, and Hillary Clinton.
10) You hate the ALCU for representing convicted felons, but they owed it
to the country to bail out Oliver North.
11) You have to believe that the best way to encourage military morale is
to praise the troops overseas while cutting their VA benefits.
12) You believe that group sex and drug use are degenerate sins that can
only be purged by running for governor of California as a Republican.
13) You have to believe it is wise to keep condoms out of schools, because
we all know if teenagers don't have condoms they won't have sex.
14) You have to believe that the best way to fight terrorism is to
alienate our allies and then demand their cooperation and money.
15) You have to believe that government medicine is wrong and that HMO's
and insurance companies only have your best interests at heart.
16) You have to believe that providing health care to all Iraqis is sound
government policy but providing health care to all Americans is socialism
personified.
17) You believe that tobacco's link to cancer and global warming are "junk
science", but Creationism should be taught in schools.
18) You have to believe that waging war with no exit strategy was wrong in
Vietnam but right in Iraq.
19) You have to believe that Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him,
a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when
Cheney was doing business with him, and a bad guy when Bush needed a
we-can't-find-Bin-Laden diversion.
20) You believe that government should restrict itself to just the powers
named in the Constitution, which includes banning gay marriages and
censoring the internet.
21) You have to believe that the public has a right to know about the
adulterous affairs of Democrats, while those of Republicans are a private
matter.
22) You have to believe that the public has a right to know about
Hillary's cattle trades but that Bush was right to censor those 28 pages
from the Congressional 9/11 report because you just can't handle the truth.
23) You support state rights, which means Ashcroft telling states what
locally passed voter initiatives he will allow them to have.
24) You have to believe that what Clinton did in the 1960's is of vital
national interest but what Bush did decades later is stale news and
irrelevant.
25) You have to believe that trade with Cuba is wrong because it is
communist, but trading with China and Vietnam is just dandy.
