I would say the best thing is a clean break. Things can get very messy when you stay friends with an ex - especially when one of you finds another boy/girlfriend... and chances are one of you would still be in the relationship if you had the chance - terrible for your ego.

Not for a month during which you let emptiness clean out your stuffy mind with bad, confused feelings about him and charge it up with spiritual energy. When your mind is clear, you get greater insights into what is really going on your relationship with him. You will be glad you have broken up with him, especailly he is a bad-boy type.
The power of a clear mind is beyond description. It can be attained by anyone who can appreciate and utilize the value of doing nothing.

Technically yes...I mean he is your best friend. However, having gone through this same scenario, I can say with much certainity, that this will hurt your heart so much to speak with him. As much as you try to convince yourself that your conversations will strictly be friendly, the truth is you will yern for much more.
