I'm looking for a hotel close to Oxford Circle, somewhere on Oxford street would be best. I know there are plenty of hotel sites online but I'm a woman and admit I'm not very good with maps. Do you know any hotels you could recommend? I don't want to stay anywhere super expensive and not in a rat hole either, something in-between would be nice. A small flat could also work if it's rented out for one night only.

Now everyone is going to point that out and not answer my question. Why can't I edit my questions like I can with my answers?

... having a blonde day here, sorry

Thanks for all the answers. I have been to London many times and I am looking for a hotel near Oxford Circus for just one night. I'm not traveling alone (actually looking for a triple room) and I would rather pay a bit more and be very close to Oxford Circle than in a cheap hotel away. I have appointments very close to Oxford Circus and loads of stuff to carry around so I want to minimize all traveling, even if it's just one or two tube stops away.

I like the Corus Hotel on Hyde Park. It's a short bus ride away from Oxford Street, towards Bayswater, or three stops on the Central line tube from Oxford Circus (but a very quick journey). It's a 3 star, and on the Superbreak website it's £60 for a twin or single room. The Holiday Inn is OK but that's £160. There are quite a few hotels round the back of Oxford Street, such as the Mostyn - is nice but might be a bit pricey.

I would have thought you'd feel as safe in this area as in any other part of London. Plenty of people about and lots of public transport.

Don't go to the Regent Palace on Trafalgar Square (a dive), and there's another really grotty one straight up the road opposite Marble Arch but I can't remember what it's called. If you get in at the Corus, I don't think you'll regret it. It's walking distance from Paddington Station, and is along by Lancaster Gate tube. Ask for a room overlooking the front. I don't think you'll get a flat for one night.

I don't think you would like to stay on Oxford Street. (Female, travelling alone?). Try Earl's Court/South Kensington/Gloucester Road/Brompton Road). It's easy to get to Oxford Street from there but nicer to stay.

PS "Gloucester Road" is pronounced "gloster"

London is great (in more ways than one) - Enjoy!!!

I have no connection with these hotels. You can do your own searches enter "London hotels" or "London tourism" and so on.
