Were The Beatles not aware of what they were agreeing to? Apparently Michael Jackson may have sold the rights to Sony now. Do some of the sales of albums go to Sony now too or is just when the songs are played on the radio or live?

the beatles did not own the rights to the early beatles.. they belonged to capitol and emi records. the beatles only owned music recorded on apple records.,,, sold rights means they can use them in advertising or movies.

Apparently Michael Jackson bought the publishing rights for all Beatles songs, but Paul MacCartney actually mentioned in this months Q Magazine, that the legal rights of the song will return back to him in 10 years time. Apparently that is one of the conditions on the songs copywrite. Meaning that anyone who buys all the songs, will eventually have to give them up in 10 years

I don't think it's that they didn't know, I think it was just that Michael Jackson could afford to put down more money so the Beatles lost out, although they did want the rights obviously.

Paul mccartney told him they were being sold and paul was on about buying them i think but michael beat him to it, so i think rights now go to sony and maybe part to michael as pop stars normally make sure they get a good deal out of it.

They made their money, we all know a Beatles song when we hear it (unfortunately). They obviously didn't think it was that important so why should we care?
