7u + 6/5 +6u +3/5 = 18
13u +9/5 = 18
13u +9/5 - 9/5 = 18 - 9/5
13u = 18(5/5) -9/5(1/5)
13u = 90/5 -9/5
13u = 81/5
13u/13 = 81/5 / 13/1
u= 81/5 *1/13
u= 81/65 =1 16/65 ??????

First you have to add like terms. That would equal to:

13u+9/5=18

Since 6/5 and 3/5 have the same denominator they are like terms...does this help any?

2006-10-19 17:39:39 · answer #6 · answered by Meagan H 3 · 0 1

first keep like turms together and don't mix them up.
i can't really explain how to do it but i can give you another tip.
show scrap and tell your teacher you don't understand. they like it when you ask for help.
this is the way i see it working:
13u +(6/5 + 3/5)= 18
you need to go from there.
