The reservoir must be full. It takes two people, I under car, make sure it is blocked so it can't move, one in drivers seat.
.
There should be a small bleeder on the side of the slave, it may look like a grease fitting, but it's not. It usually has an end on it to slip a small hose on.. If you have or, can purchase, a piece of hose to fit it., it will allow you to catch the fluid in a small jar and also watch for air bubbles as the fluid comes out. If no hose available just stay out of the way as fluid will come out with some force and will make a mess.
You need a wrench, box is the best, but open end will work. Before you start bleeding process make sure fitting is loose, then tighten it, not too much, as you will be opening and closing it several times.
Now you are ready, reservoir full, wheels blocked, helper in drivers seat, some one undeer vehicle.
Pump the pedal 3 or 4 times and hold it down, if it's on the floor that's ok, tell the person under car OK. continue holding.
Under car, carefully open bleed valve till you hear a little air or see fluid. When the pressure is stops, close valve, not too tight.
Tell helper OK.
Helper, pump pedal 3or4 times, hold down, not too hard but firmly, you may start to feel some resistance at this point. say OK continue holding.
Open bleeder valve as before, close as before
If you have begun to feel resistance in pedal and it does not go to floor when you pump it, we are making progress.
When the pedal starts building up and feels like it's working you must maintain the firm pressure as when the bleeder valve is opened the pedal will go to the floor. You must hold it there till you hear OK which means the valve is closed.
now you should check the reservoir and add fluid if needed.
pump pedal again and repeat this process, probably 4 or 5 times, or until you have a solid pedal.
If it doesn't build up within 5 cycles you have another problem.
Hope I got it so you can understand,.

Bleeding means getting the air out. If you don't have fluid in the reservoir when you do it, you'll just be pumping more air in. You need to bleed the whole thing, line and slave cylinder at the same time. It's a lot harder than bleeding a brake line and different for different vehicles. Get a Clymers or Hayden manual. If it's doable by the owner it will tell you how.
