My friend got into a DUI like 6 months ago and got his license taken away from him. so like once a week he asks me to drive him home from school which is alright i guess. It's not that i have a big problem or that it's costing me time or money or anything. But i never see him other than that time i drive him home. I feel like he is just using me, but i mean it's not that big of a deal right? i'm basically going the same distance home as he is, and it kinda makes me feel good. But my dad is like well you should charge him money cause he's an asshole. do you agree? what would you do?

Punch him in his nuts when he's all jacked up. That should teach him. And then when he sobers up, kick him in the nuts.

Talk to him. Let him know he is in a difficult situation, but he is the one that put himself there. Tell him he needs to start pulling his weight in helping out with gas money, and that if he was a true friend he would see and talk to you more often, instead of when you are driving him around. Let him know what you are feeling. But also let him know, he is the one that put himself in this situation and that he shpuld be more responsible. because what if he would of gotten into a wreck or killed someone. He wouldn't be out free, he would be on jail, or worse in prison for killing someone while driving drunk. Thank God, that is not what happen he was lucky this time, but if it happens again, he might not be so lucky. So, let him know that. Give him a dose of reality. I hope he learned a lesson to by gettint this DUI. Cause it could of been alot worse, he could of even lost his own life. He needs to have a reality check. But upfront and being honest is the best thing you can do for him, especially if he is a true friend. Because he will understand you do care for him and that you are only looking out for his best interest.

Sounds like he is using you for the ride but since you dont have to go out of your way I would say you should continue to do it as your good deed for the day. Its better for your karma. And I wouldn't charge him. That's just tacky.

just start putting gas in your car, while youre on your way to drop him off, ...after he sees you pumping gas/paying after a couple of times, jsut ask him to chip in. dont "charge" him, just ask him to help out,,, and do his part like you do yours for him.

TELL HIM SORRY, YOU ARE GOING THE WRONG WAY, JUST KIDDING. ASK HIM WHY YOU NEVER SEE HIM ANY OTHER TIME. I AM ALL ABOUT BEING STRAIGHT UP.
