I am doing a research paper and really haven't found a good answer for this question. I'm sure it can happen to anyone, but I'm wondering if there is someone it may happen more often to. Any help would be GREAT!

It happens to people who have good credit, for one thing. A lot of times, people steal another person's identity in order to obtain a phone, cable service and lots of other things that the person cannot get without a different identity. Some people are here illegally or they just have bad credit - so they need the identity of someone who doesn't have those problems. I know someone who was released from prison and discoverd that her identity was stolen by someone who used it for getting a phone and all kinds of things! The ***** ran up all kinds of bills by using the ex-prisoner's identity.

Identity theft can happen to ANYONE who is careless with their personal numbers (bank, telephone, social security, etc...).
You need to protect yourself.

Go into google and type in: identity theft protection
and you will have MANY links which will guide you and help you.

Another pointer is to NOT give out your pin codes to anybody. Do not write down your pin codes (you MUST memorize them). Keep your personal belongings well protected (bank cards, receipts). Destroy mail with YOUR NAME and ADDRESS on it...

People sometimes just need a name and a personal address and they can take that persons identity. Protect it NOW and YOU WILL BE HAPPY YOU DID! Good luck!

it can happen to anyone, that's why it's such a HUGE terrible problem---babies, the elderly, you, me, teens, etc.
Can you focus just on one group and write the paper from that point of view? There's lots of stuff on the web about kid's getting their identities stolen by THEIR PARENTS for credit and stuff.

That'd be a good angle

People that tend to fall for any other type of confidence trick. They are either unthinking or they are looking for something for nothing. Many phishing scams are based on greed.
